A FEMALE police officer was left with cuts to her body and hand after a struggle with a man she was arresting in Logan yesterday.
The officer, 26, was off duty when she attempted to arrest a 43-year-old man over alleged traffic matters at a shopping centre car park in Shailer Park about 4.10pm.
It’s alleged the man physically assaulted the officer with a knife, leaving her with cuts to her shoulder, hand and leg.
Bystanders stepped in to help the officer before more police arrived.
She was treated at the scene.
The man has been charged with serious assault to police and also been issued with a notice to appear for eight counts of stealing, four counts of threatening violence, three counts of common assault and one count each of attempted stealing, possess tainted property, possessing a knife in a public place and possessing dangerous drugs.
He was expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 4.
Investigations are continuing with police appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident at the shopping centre car park to contact Crime Stoppers.
