THE outrageous 162-metre-long yacht belonging to Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea Football Club Roman Abramovich has sailed in to New York City and may stay for weeks, according to reports.

Last week the yacht docked near midtown Manhattan and is expected to stick around until mid-April according to BusinessInsider.com.

While no reason was given for the visit, it may have something to do with a baby - Abramovich's girlfriend Dasha Zhukova is pregnant. Regardless, it's wowing spectators.

The yacht is quite a sight. It features two swimming pools including a 16-metre pool that transforms into a disco when the water is drained out and the floor is raised, two helipads and a hanger below the deck for carrying a third helicopter, a cinema, salon-spa and restaurant.

There's accommodation for 92 crew and staff members with 24 guest cabins - each coming with its own 1.8m private cinema screen.

There's also a 464sqm master suite that's armour-plated and windowed with bullet-proof glass.

And pirates, beware: The boat reportedly boasts a military-grade missile defense system, an underwater escape hatch and a submarine.

Estimates of its cost range from $373 million to $1.1 billion.
