Teens arrested after cyclist attacked

TWO teenagers were arrested last night after allegedly trying to rob a cyclist in front of police in Sunshine.

Investigators from the Brimbank Tasking Unit were conducting an operation last night when two youths loitering in the area attacked a 23-year-old Sunshine man.

One of the teenagers knocked the man off his bicycle near the intersection of Hampshire Rd and McDonald Lane, before both males began assaulting him.

Plain clothes police were there in seconds, arresting the 17-year-old with his alleged accomplice, a 14-year-old fleeing on foot.

The younger of the two was chased down by police and arrested several hundred metres away.

The two boys, both from St Albans, remain in custody. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
