TORRENTIAL rain drenching southeast Queensland is causing havoc for drivers and commuters using public transport.

At 9.30am, Queensland Urban Utilities dismissed reports of a burst water main in Albion.

A spokeswoman said the mini lake on Frodsham and Little Streets has been caused by a blocked storm drain.

She said Brisbane City Council was aware of the situation and would respond as soon as possible.

At 9am, the Australian Traffic Network said traffic on the M1 was slow from Yatala to Eight Mile Plains and on the M3 from Garden City to Brisbane's inner city.

The traffic network said cars were at a crawl along the Bruce Highway from Deception Bay to the Pine Rivers Bridge and the Centenary Highway from Wacol to Jindalee.

Expect delays along the Inner City Bypass from Bowen Hills to the city because of an earlier breakdown and wet conditions.

There are reports of flooding at Buchanan Road in Morayfield, Illaweena Road in Drewvale and Paradise Road in Larapinta.

At 8.30am, a female driver had a lucky escape following a three-vehicle accident at the Rode Rd and Gympie Rode intersection at Chermside.

A sidestruck silver Honda with a green P-plate sustained heavy damage resting near the traffic island while a damaged truck rested on the adjacent curb and maroon ute sat nearby.
