Eight people wedged in hatchback

EIGHT people have been found wedged into a small hatchback, including one man who was in the boot, after a car was pulled over by police in Melbourne's north.

The Ford Laser was stopped at 4.30am today after police saw it travelling through Lalor and noticed it was overloaded.

Eight people climbed out of the car, including a man who was wedged in the boot.

The 20-year-old driver, from Preston, was unlicensed and returned a positive breath test.

The car was impounded leaving the five men and three women to find another way to get home.

The driver will be charged on summons with traffic-related offences including failing to accompany police for a
breath test.
