THE heavyweights of the beard and moustache world came out in force at this year's International German Beard And Moustache Championship.

Contestants went chin to chin during the fierce competition in the German town of Pforzheim late last month.

Up to 100 participants from around the world battled it out across 18 categories ranging from "Dali-style," and "Imperial" to "Freestyle."

While Hans-Peter Weis, a local of Pforzheim took out the main prize in the Freestyle beard category others, you could say, missed by a whisker.
