HUNDREDS of workers were evacuated from an Australia Post centre last night after a suspicious package was located in the building.
Five employees were taken to Casey Hospital at 8.30pm after a white substance was discovered in a package at the Dandenong Letter Centre in Dandenong South.
Workers were evacuated from the Nathans Rd business following the alert but were required to stay at the scene until 2.30am.
Up to six Australia Post trucks and replacement shift workers waited outside the gates.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Belle Nolan said authorities have investigated the site and deemed it “all clear”.
The employees were transferred to hospital as a precaution.
Mail sorting at the centre was stopped for more than six hours.
CFA and police were on scene investigating.
