Three dead in 48 hours

THREE people have died in 48 hours after a spate of car accidents and pedestrian fatalities on Victorian roads.

The latest tragedy occurred at 7am this morning after a motorcyclist crashed into a tree and died at Dockers Plains near Wangaratta.

Investigators believe the motorcycle was travelling north on the Hume Fwy when the rider veered off the road and struck the tree.

The rider is yet to be formally identified.

It comes after a male pedestrian was also died last night when he was hit by a truck in Victoria’s northeast.

The fatal accident occurred just after 9pm near Shepparton on Doyles Rd in Orrvale, police said.

It is believed Police continue to probe the case but it is believed the man was trying to cross the road when he was struck.

On Thursday night a 55-year-old Yarra Junction man died in Seville after he was hit by a car while walking across Monbulk-Seville Rd.

It is believed the man had been walking north on the road when he was hit by a car travelling in the same direction.

The driver is assisting police with their inquiries.

This morning’s death brings the state road toll to 84, which is 8 less people than this time last year.

Police are investigating this morning’s crash and appealing for witnesses.
