A SECURITY incident on a passenger jet at Boston's Logan was not related to Monday's bombings, say police.

The US Federal Aviation Administration said there had been some type of security incident on a passenger jet at Boston's Logan Airport but State Police say the incident is not related to Monday's bombings, reports CBS.

US Airways Flight 1716 from Philadelphia landed at the airport and could be seen on the tarmac with what looked like luggage beside it, WBZ reported.

Spokesperson David Procopio said a piece of luggage on the plane had not been checked in Philadelphia that security wanted to look at.

Bloomberg News reported that separately the central terminal of New York's LaGuardia Airport had been evacuated due to a suspicious package. The evacuation is now over.
