UPDATE: THE police have declared a suspect suitcase safe after workers around Etihad Stadium were evacuated this morning.
La Trobe St in Docklands was earlier cordoned off after the discovery of a suspect package near Etihad Stadium this morning, as nearby office buildings were evacuated.
Victoria Police said “unattended luggage” was reported around 9.30am.
Shortly after midday, police confirmed the suitcase was empty, before reopening roads to allow traffic to flow normally again.
Earlier police sent in a bomb squad with bomb disposal robots to remove the device.
Police sectioned off Harbour Esplanade and Latrobe St while investigations were underway.
