Woman finds burglar in her bedroom

TWO men have been charged after a woman returned home to find a burglar ransacking her bedroom last night.

The victim phoned police as the man fled, but patrolling officers found the alleged offender a short time later.

“Investigators were called to a residential address in Malvern Road, Toorak, around 6pm after a woman reported surprising a would-be burglar in a bedroom of her home,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Belle Nolan said.

“Officers began patrolling the area and spotted a man matching the description of the burglar at the Hawksburn railway station a short time later.”

A 20-year-old Noble Park man and a 19-year-old Springvale South man were arrested.

“It’s alleged the duo had several stolen items in their possession at the time of the arrest,” Ms Nolan said.

“They were charged with aggravated burglary, burglary and theft.”

The charges relate to four alleged burglaries committed between 28 February and 4 March this year in Malvern, Armadale, Toorak and South Yarra.

The men were remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court today (TUES).
