IT'S a small world after all played over and over as a disabled man was trapped inside a Disneyland ride. To make it worse - he needed to pee.

Overnight a court ordered Disneyland pay paraplegic Jose Martinez, 52, $8000 in compensation for being trapped on the It's a Small World ride in November 2009.

According to his lawyer David Geffen, Mr Martinez was visiting Disneyland with his wife for the first time since he was a child. He was having a lovely time. That changed when the "It's a small world" ride stopped working just as he reached the exit tunnel.

"They started evacuating other guests and weren't evacuating him," Mr Geffen said. "They said they couldn't move him out of the cave.... They didn't summon the Fire Department right way."

He was trapped for half an hour. According to the Express Mr Martinez suffers from panic attacks and high blood pressure. His situation was aggravated by a need to urinate.

Mr Geffen said it took three hours for Mr Martinez to "medically stabilise" after he was finally released from the ride.

The US District Court in Santa Anaheim awarded $4000 for pain and suffering and $4000 related to other access violations.

Spokeswoman for Disneyland Resort, Suzi Brown said: "Disneyland Resort believes it provided all appropriate assistance ... and is disappointed that the court did not fully agree."
