A FAULTY wall heater blamed for causing the deaths of two boys from carbon monoxide poisoning in 2010 had not been serviced by the property's landlord for more than three years, an inquest has heard.
An inquest in to the deaths of Tyler and Chase Robinson that began today in Shepparton heard the boys died after carbon monoxide from a soot-filled heater was drawn into their three bedroom rental home by exhaust fans.
Tests found carbon monoxide levels were 5000 part per million, well above the safe level of 10 parts per million.
Counsel assisting said the inquest would not explore the police investigation of the boys' deaths but would focus on the responsibilities of landlords, real estate agents and tradespeople.
