Fire-bomb thrown at island house

A HOUSE has been fire-bombed in a tourist hotspot on Phillip Island in Victoria's southeast.

Police are investigating after a home-made explosive device was thrown at the front door of the house on Seagrove Way in Cowes at 12.50am today.

A 45-year-old woman, who was home at the time of the attack, called emergency services when the device exploded on her porch.

A CFA member who lived nearby responded to the alarm, pushing the burning device away from the house with a kitchen mop before the flames took hold.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
