Couple charged after man stabbed in chest

A MAN was allegedly stabbed following an argument with a NSW couple on the Gold Coast.

It is alleged a Broadbeach man, 40, was involved in a verbal altercation with an East Hills man and woman, both 26, near a Ferny Avenue hotel in Surfers Paradise just before 9pm Sunday.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the wounded man was transported to Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition suffering stab wounds to the chest.

The East Hills man has been charged with unlawful wounding and assault, while the woman has been charged with unlawful wounding.

Both will appear in Southport Court on Monday.
