RESIDENTS in the Winchelsea area have been told to implement their fire plans as a fast moving grass fire threatens communities.

The blaze, moving south, is expected to impact Buckley, Winchelsea anytime within the next two hours.

About 30 CFA appliances are battling the blaze, which could be affected quickly by wind changes.

A change in wind direction is expected within the next hour, which could cause the fire to change direction towards Buckley, Wurdiboluc and Modewarre.

The CFA has urged residents to leave now, while conditions are still safe, if that is part of their fire plan or if they are not adequately prepared to stay.

Those who are away from their homes in affected areas are warned not to return until safe to do so.

Those caught in the fire area are advised to seek shelter, including in private bunkers if possible.
